A Night to Remember: Empowering Women at Warwick Castle
The recent International Women’s Day event at Warwick Castle showcased not only the achievements of women but also the immense power of community. Organized by the West Midlands-based Ladies First Professional Development Network Group, the evening illuminated the theme 'Give to Gain' amid vibrant purple hues that filled the venue.
Inspiring Stories and Leadership
Attendees were treated to an impressive lineup of speakers, including Chief Superintendent of The West Midlands Police, Kim Madill, and news anchor Suzanne Virdee. Each shared personal narratives of resilience and success, reinforcing the significance of women supporting each other in their journeys. Hosted by the seasoned broadcaster and entrepreneur Arti Halai, the evening resonated with uplifting stories aimed at inspiring future leaders.
Supporting Charitable Causes
The event also highlighted the vital work of The Esther Project, an initiative dedicated to aiding women facing challenges such as domestic abuse and homelessness. Director Tracey McAtamney emphasized the importance of community, noting that the funds raised would directly benefit women in need, ultimately fostering a sense of connection and empowerment among attendees.
In the last year, The Esther Project supported over 70 women and provided essential services, including training courses and counselling sessions to help them rebuild their lives. Founder Lianne Kirkman’s commitment to creating safe spaces for recovery is a testament to the impact of collaboration and support within the community.
A Memorable Evening and Surprises
The night culminated in excitement when Anita Dinnes was awarded a stunning diamond necklace in a raffle, further adding to the festive atmosphere. Guests contributed by donating hairbrushes for The Shine Together Initiative, reinforcing the collective effort to support women's shelters and local centres.
The event was a powerful reminder that when women unite with purpose, real change occurs. As McAtamney noted, it was a special moment for participants, especially vulnerable women and schoolgirls, to share a space filled with stories of strength and potential. This celebration of women's achievements is not just an event; it is a movement towards a future where empowerment is commonplace.
